During a major disaster, ordinary citizens may be called upon to volunteer or assist emergency services with emergency support. Our goal is to develop and train a team of citizen's who will be able to deliver professional and expedient emergency support to themselves and their community.
This training program is designed to further the process of citizen's understanding of their responsibility in preparing for a disaster. It increases their ability to help themselves, their family, and their neighbors. The CERT course will benefit any citizen who takes it, preparing this individual to respond to and cope with the aftermath of a disaster or emergency. The following topics will be discussed: Introduction to CERT, Fire suppression, Medical Ops I, Medical Ops II, Light Search/Rescue, Disaster Psychology, Animals in Disaster, and Terrorism. For upcoming CERT courses contact Schuylkill County EMA at 570-622-3739.
